Research Brief - SIRC investigators examined factors that could impact the effectiveness of the keepin’ it REAL youth substance use prevention program, named a Model Program by SAMHSA. A previously conducted randomized trial, which included more than 7,000 students, 250 teachers, and 35 urban Phoenix middle schools found keepin’ it REAL to be efficacious in delaying the onset of drug use and strengthening anti-drug norms among a diverse middle school population.
