Biography
Dr. Chanler Hilley is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center at Arizona State University. His research addresses risk and resilience factors related to behavioral health and developmental outcomes across the transition to adulthood, especially for youth who have experienced adversity (e.g., violence exposure, poverty, social isolation). More broadly, Chanler is interested in promoting positive developmental outcomes across the lifespan (e.g., employment, education, behavioral health). He has experience in both implementing prevention programming and methodology for evaluating preventive interventions, as well as training in prevention science and lifespan development. Chanler's research interests are motivated by his experience working with young adults both one-on-one and community health education roles. In addition to these substantive interests, Chanler maintains methodological interests in advanced quantitative tools to address developmental and prevention research questions, including latent variable methods, longitudinal analyses in multilevel modeling and structural equation modeling frameworks, and mediation analyses. Chanler is credentialed as a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. He earned a PhD in Family and Human Development with a specialization in Measurement and Statistical Analysis and a Master of Education from Arizona State University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in health promotion from Coastal Carolina University.
